Now that the academic year is coming to a close, you’ll find you have so much more free time that was previously taken up by your assignments. Why not use that time to try your hand at some slow cooker recipes?
Baked Beans and wedges…
This is a great first recipe to try your hand at slow cooking. You can leave this on low for up to 9-10 hours; either overnight or whilst your are out at uni. That way when you come home you’ve got your tea ready to serve.
Ingredients:
- Onions (thinly sliced)
- Bacon (2 rashers cut into pieces)
- Chopped Tomato (400g)
- Stock from a Cube (200ml)
- Cannellini Bean (410g)
- White flower (1 tbsp)
- Dried Mixed Herbs (1 tsp)
- Wedges
Method:
Slow cooking is simple and easy. There really is only a few steps since you bung everything in the cooker at the end.
- First, fry the onions and bacon in a non-stick pan. Fry them for around 5 – 10 minutes.
- Once fried, throw them (along with your tomatoes, stock and some seasoning) into your slow cooker.
- Stir in the beans and then cover with the lid and leave for 9-10 hours.
- Once ready, serve with wedges.
