Graduation is now over, and for many of us it is time to enjoy the summer before the hard work begins again in September. Most people will go home this time of year, however, thanks to McCombs 50-week contracts, the university lifestyle doesn’t need to take a break. You may be thinking, surely there isn’t that much to do at uni over summer. This blog is going to cover all the different things you can get up to in Ormskirk over the summer period.
Days out:
Ormskirk is in a pretty good location, with Liverpool, Southport and Preston and St Helen’s basically on its doorstep, you are never short of a shopping day out or a trip into the city. With McComb’s accommodations being in the heart of Ormskirk town centre, that means the bus and train stations are both in easy walking distance from your front door.
Dining Out:
There are plenty of discrete dining locations that you would most likely walk past on your daily journey to university. Make the most of your time off to really experience all that Ormskirk has to offer. There are the main ones that most people recognise; from Barnyard to the Nordico Lounge and even the Left Bank Brasserie. However, dig deep into Ormskirk and there are plenty more restaurants and eateries to expand your pallet. You might even find a new favourite!
Drinks Out:
For most people, student life isn’t complete without a good drink now and then and there are plenty of places to grab a drink in Ormskirk meaning that you can easily spend an afternoon travelling the numerous bars and pubs without getting bored. Make the most of your afternoons out of lectures to explore the bar culture in town.
Relax:
Luckily, there are still plenty of greenspaces around the centre of Ormskirk from Coronation Park to the Victoria Park and Garden. These are great places to take a blanket and spend the day chilling out on the grass. Especially with the weather that we have been having this year!
So, even though the university year is up, and most students have gone back home, there is still plenty on offer in Ormskirk over the summer period. If you are a McComb student, make the most of your longer tenancy and bring your friends from home!
