As many of you may know since moving in with McComb, Ormskirk is renowned for its history, character, Gingerbread and markets which are held every Thursday and Saturday, but did you know about the Artisan Markets held on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month? Until recently I had never heard of them and now I’ve discovered some amazing small businesses!
Now I don’t want to be that person mentioning the C word in October (although I’d put my tree up now if it was up to me…) BUT is it ever too early to start planning or buying presents for our loved ones? And I think this year with current circumstances its especially important that we support small businesses’ during these unprecedented times.
So, what are the Artisan Markets?
The Artisan Network have been hosting specialist events for around 8 years across the Northwest, showcasing the best makers, bakers and creatives derived from a range of different backgrounds.
As I said previously, Ormskirk Artisan Market takes place on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the Month ending on the 20th December. Their Frost Fair will be held on the 3rd and 20TH December (perfect for you late Christmas present buyers, I am looking at you boys, ha!!) and they are based on Moor street, so getting here could not be easier for the tenants of McComb as its practically on our doorsteps. Parking on all the council car parks is also free on a Sunday, result!
What will you find?
One of the amazing things I found out about the Artisan Markets is that each one is different! Their aim is to bring freshness and diversity to Ormskirk.
You will discover everything from homeware, art, handmade fashion garments, pet products (food and clothing) to cruelty free beauty and hand-dyed yarns.
They have a huge selection of food stalls with something for everyone; Cheeses, chutneys, brownies/blondies, cupcakes, fudge, cheesecakes, locally produced Gin & Rum (find me here first!) along with a selection of gluten free, dairy free and vegan cuisine!
Below I am going to include a couple of traders I’ve personally spoke to who will be trading on the 1st November, make sure to check them out!
